MET: Day Two

MET Day Two: Full-on but inspiring! 🎶📚

Friday started with a fascinating workshop: “A picture is worth a thousand words… or it is? An introduction to audio description” by Ralph Pacinotti. Audio description isn’t my specialty, but it was so eye-opening! The hands-on activity at the end which invloved incorporating AD into a 1928 B&W cartoon really made both Elisa and I step into the shoes of visually impaired viewers.

Next, I joined the choir rehearsal and immediately felt at home when we sang “On Ilkley Moor”. Singing truly is good for the soul! 🎵 I also had lunch with some fellow choir members, which was a lovely chance to meet new people.

The workshop “Five ingredients to cook up a better text” by Ana and Simon was engaging and full of practical takeaways, and Thomas’s session on proofreading reminded me to always stay alert — no snoozing allowed when reviewing material!

Hearing the stories of the past 20 years of MET and its journey was inspiring. I’m excited to see where MET will be in the next 20 years.

As someone who’s recently moved to Barcelona, it was wonderful meeting Chloé, who’s making the move too. We ended the evening with drinks and a great chat in the refectory — a perfect close to an enriching day. 🍷
